Why is a Baseball Bat Cupped?
Cupping a bat is a great way to take weight off from the barrel of a bat. This make the bat feel more balanced and less end-loaded. In time a cupped bat may chip if not treated properly, thus taking away from the aesthetics of the bat. Cupping a bat does NOT take away from the "SWEET SPOT" of the bat. A cupped bat can take approximately 1/2 to 1 ounce.
